Foreign Ministry Reports 23 Cambodians Living in Ukraine are Safe

PHNOM PENH: Foreign Ministry spokesman, Chum Sontory, has confirmed to reporters that the situation of Cambodians living in Ukraine is normal and all are currently living in a safe place.

On Monday, the spokesman said that according to the information received by the embassy on February 27, all Cambodians residing in Ukraine are safe as usual.

He added that the embassy reported Ukrainian men between the ages of 18 and 60 are unable to leave Ukraine as they are required to stay and continue defending the country.

There are currently 23 Cambodian alumni of the former Soviet Union living with their families in Ukraien. Seven in Kharkov, 11 in Kyiv and five in Odessa. The Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Cambodian Embassy in Russia will continue to communicate with the 23 Cambodians to stay updated on their situation.
